Akira's Lore

Once upon a time, in a small, unnamed mountain village, a group of ordinary humans came across a giant pink egg. In this egg, was a baby dragon, about to be born to a world of magic and dreams, but also terrible sickness and death.When Akira was born, she was only a small noodle-like dragon, only able to blink and wiggle around aimlessly, to the cooing of the villagers who found and raised her. Akira had already known her name when she was born, it being an inheritance from her dragon mother, but without anyone able to teach her much about being a dragon, Akira learned it the hard way, to the amusement of the villagers.There had been many times Akira had failed to slither up a tree or fell down from the sky while practicing flying. Thankfully, it only took a couple decades before she was able to master the magic within her to transform into a human-like appearance. Although she was unable to hide her horns and tail, she was proud of her transformation. The villagers thankfully had already prepared clothes for her since they knew she was trying to transform, so she quickly dressed and went out to meet her beloved humans.Learning to speak was very difficult for Akira, she’d much rather prefer to read books and play with the stuffed toys the villagers had gifted her when she was just a baby dragon. But as the only immortal in the village, she tasked herself with learning the language, and learning how to heal, without magic. Between potions and elixirs, powders and soups, Akira was busy after becoming the village’s apothecary.Akira loved her job regardless, it earned her coin to buy treats, and Akira was in love with this foreign treat called chocolate that rarely appeared in the village market. A couple centuries passed in peaceful days, minus the occasional bandits and wild animals that tried to stir up the peace. Akira dealt with them in a timely manner, protecting the lives of the villagers every day between healing and fighting.One day, Akira’s little apothecary shop was rattled by a handful of villagers with suspicious lumps on their skin. They were painful to the touch, and they were suffering from an immense amount of pain all over their body, from head to toe. Akira, not realizing it was a plague, tried to cure them. However, her treatments were in vain, and they died an excruciating death. Slowly but surely, all the villagers became afflicted with this plague and died in Akira’s arms.Unable to cope with the death of the villagers, Akira sought out a rumor of a great wizard that lived in a tower high in the sky. As Akira transformed into her dragon form, she flew above many villages in search of this mysterious tower, only to see that the plague had spread further than just her village.Finally, on the horizon, Akira found the tower and climbed through the window on the top floor, only to see a dying wizard. His eyes twinkled as if he had found hope, and he quickly began to divulge the truth of the disease to Akira.Not only was it a plague, but in this world, there exists no cure. But the wizard had been researching before he too became ill. He knows a spell to be able to jump between worlds, and thought that one world in particular had promise.Imparting his knowledge, and granting Akira to be master of the tower before he passed, the wizard fell asleep to never reawaken.With tears streaming down her face, Akira felt hopeless for a few minutes. But then she remembered the wizard’s words of a world that showed promise.Spending the next few months studying, Akira learned the spells of the grimoires the wizard had left behind and started the jumps.Akira experienced many things in the worlds she peaked inside, but she eventually found the world the wizard had spoke of, or at least she hopes.Transforming with all her power, Akira takes on a typical appearance of a human in this new world. Luckily the language is identical to her world, so she was able to quickly fit in.Now in this world, she used her magic to seamlessly blend into society. Identifying herself as Akira Melodie, the Melodie coming from her love of music, as part of a loving family that truly didn’t exist, she enrolls in college in hopes to become a pharmacist. To learn the medicines of this world, and to be able to make new ones, and to take all this knowledge back home with her, to save her own world.
